Accessibility Statement
Last updated: May 14, 2026
Extra Touch Upholstery is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards.
1. Our Commitment
We believe that the web should be accessible to all. As a 45-year-old family-owned business serving Reno, Lake Tahoe, and surrounding communities, we view accessibility as part of our promise to serve our clients with respect and integrity. We work to make every part of extratouchreno.com usable by everyone, regardless of ability, technology, or environment.
2. Accessibility Standard
This Site is designed to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone.
WCAG 2.1 Level AA addresses four core principles:
- Perceivable — information and interface components must be presentable in ways users can perceive
- Operable — interface and navigation must be operable through different methods (keyboard, touch, mouse, voice)
- Understandable — information and interface operation must be understandable
- Robust — content must be robust enough to be interpreted by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies
3. Accessibility Features on This Site
We have implemented the following accessibility features:
3.1 Structural and Navigation
- Semantic HTML with proper heading hierarchy and landmark regions
- Skip-to-main-content link for keyboard and screen-reader users
- Logical tab order throughout the Site
- Descriptive page titles and meta information
- Consistent navigation across pages
- Breadcrumb navigation where appropriate
3.2 Content
- Descriptive alt text on meaningful images
- Decorative images marked as such so screen readers skip them
- Plain-language descriptions throughout
- Form labels explicitly associated with inputs
- Error messages that clearly identify the problem and how to fix it
3.3 Visual Design
- Color contrast ratios meeting WCAG AA standards
- Information conveyed through more than color alone
- Text resizable up to 200% without loss of functionality
- Focus indicators visible on all interactive elements
- No content that flashes more than three times per second
4. Accessibility Widget
This Site includes a third-party accessibility widget powered by ADAWebPro. Look for the accessibility icon in the lower-left corner of any page. Click it to open the widget and adjust the Site to your preferences.
The widget provides these adaptations:
| Category | Features |
|---|---|
| Vision | Larger or smaller text · Adjustable line height · High contrast mode · Dark contrast · Invert colors · Saturation adjustments |
| Reading | Dyslexia-friendly font · Highlight links · Highlight titles · Reading guide bar · Reading mask · Read-aloud (where supported) |
| Motor & Cognition | Large cursor · Pause animations · Stop motion · Focus indicators · Skip-to-content shortcuts |
| Memory | Save your widget settings across sessions |
All widget settings persist on your device until you reset them. You can clear all widget settings at any time by clicking "Reset" inside the widget.
5. Compatibility
This Site is designed and tested to work with:
- Recent versions of major browsers — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge
- Screen readers — JAWS (Windows), NVDA (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS, iOS), TalkBack (Android)
- Keyboard-only navigation — full functionality without a mouse
- Mobile and tablet devices — responsive design that works on touch screens
- Voice control — basic functionality with system voice control on macOS and Windows
6. Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, some content on the Site may not yet be fully accessible. Specifically:
- Some older portfolio images may not have ideal alt text — we are reviewing and updating these
- Third-party embedded content (such as Google Maps, social media feeds) is subject to the accessibility of the originating platform and may have limitations beyond our control
- PDF documents (where present) may not be fully tagged for screen readers — we are working to remediate these
If you encounter a barrier not listed above, please let us know.
7. Ongoing Improvements
Accessibility is not a one-time project. We perform regular reviews of the Site, train staff on accessibility best practices, and test new features for accessibility before launching them. Our roadmap includes:
- Quarterly automated and manual accessibility audits
- User testing with people who use assistive technology
- Progressive enhancement of older content
- Continual improvement as standards evolve
8. Feedback and Contact for Accessibility
We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of this Site. Please tell us if you encounter accessibility barriers, and include:
- The page or URL where you encountered the issue
- A description of the barrier
- The device, browser, and assistive technology you were using
- Your preferred contact method so we can follow up
