Whole-system reupholstery for English roll-arms, Lawson sofas, tuxedo silhouettes, and contemporary builds — finished to the standard the original maker intended.
A well-built sofa is rarely tired — it is simply wearing the wrong skin. Most sofas we receive at the atelier have decades of life left in their frames; what they need is a careful strip-down, a foundation rebuild, and the right fabric. The result is not a renovation but a continuation: the same sofa, in a second act of its life.
Every sofa moves through the same disciplined sequence — the same one our shop has used for forty-five years.
A craftsman comes to your home to inspect the sofa, measure for yardage, and discuss fabric direction. You receive a written scope and an estimate before any work begins.
The sofa is moved to our Reno atelier under blankets. We strip the fabric, padding, and webbing down to the hardwood frame to inspect joinery, springs, and structural integrity.
Where required, we replace jute webbing, re-tie eight-way hand-tied springs, and re-pad the deck. This is what separates a furniture sofa from a furniture-grade sofa.
New high-density foam cores are cut to your preferred firmness and wrapped in bonded polyester to soften the edge and prevent foam-burn against the fabric.
Patterns are matched, repeats are aligned across cushions and back, and welt cord is cut on the bias for clean curves.
Seams are single-needle sewn, welt is applied, and any tufting, channel-stitching, or nailhead trim is set by hand.
The finished sofa is delivered by our crew, set into place, and signed off in person.
We carry sample lines from Schumacher, Holland & Sherry, Romo, and Pindler for residential silhouettes, plus Crypton and Sunbrella performance lines for lake-house and family environments. For statement pieces, mohair velvet and natural-fiber boucles remain the gold standard.
